introduction to Fin.K.L
Fin.K.L (핑클) (stands for Fine Killing Liberty; means "the oppression of all freedom") is a kpop girl group debuted in may 12, 1998 under DSP Media. the fandom name is "Pinky" and the official color is Red. they are one of most popular girl groups in the late 90s, alongside with S.E.S and Baby V.O.X and known for the soft to girl crush concepts.
Fin.K.L debuted with their album, "Fine Killing Liberty: Blue Rain" in may 12, 1998 with the first single, Blue Rain which it's started with a slow ballad. the next single is To My Boyfriend (내 남자친구에게), which is a catchy pop and cute song. this single made Fin.K.L burst their popularity and setting on a higher charts. the last single is Ruby (루비(淚悲):슬픈 눈물) which is also a ballad and about the lost love. during the first album promotions, Fin.K.L also reached their popularity in China and Taiwan their title tracks was turned into remakes by the artists Yuki Hsu (Call Me= To My Boyfriend and I Can't Cry= Ruby) and Fengie Wang (You Are So Unforgettable= Blue Rain).
the group released their second album, "White" in may 13, 1999 with the hit and catchy singles, Forever Love (영원한 사랑), Pride (자존심), and Waiting For You. Fin.K.L held their first live concert in Seoul in august 4, 1999.
at the same year, the group released their first irregular album, "Special" on november 26, 1999 and their another hit singles, To My Prince (나의 왕자님께), Time of Mask (가면의 시간), White (화이트) and also, Like an Indian Doll (인디언 인형처럼); a remake of Na-mi's song. this year really made Fin.K.L gained a lot of popularity and awards received because of their hit albums.
before the group release their next album, Fin.K.L held their second live concert in Seoul in 2000. in october 6, 2000, the group released their fourth album, "Now" and their hit singles, Now and Feel My Love. this made the group turned from cute into matured and girl crush concepts. Now is their most popular and promoted single and while Feel Your Love has no relevance in the album.
in april 13, 2001, the group released their second irregular album, "Memories & Melodies" which consists of remakes from the late 80s and early 90s hit songs. the singles in this album are You'll Never Know (당신은 모르실거야, original by Hye Eun Yee) and Come On Baby Tonight (늘 지금처럼, original by Lee Ye-rin).
in march 8, 2002, the group released their fourth and last album, "Forever" and the singles Forever (영원) and Don't Go Away. this era made the group in silence and the album is full of slow and sorrowful ballads without any upbeat songs as the members were growing up in this moment. after the release, the group went in a hiatus to focus on their solo activities. during the group's hiatus, hyolee and juhyun pursued to be soloists and while jin and yuri focused on acting movies and dramas.
the group briefly came back and released their digital album "FINKL" and same name of the track in october 26, 2005. the single only released a music video and no stage promotions because of the members' individual activities.
after 14 years of hiatus, the group reunited in a JTBC reality show, "Camping Club" in 2019. they released a memorable and nostalgic single, "Like the Song Remains (남아있는 노래처럼)".
